Steven Romo is a news anchor, journalist and writer. He’s currently a New York-based correspondent for NBC News.
Born in Dallas and raised more so by television than his parents, Steven fell in love with stories. It was stories that gave him the courage and hope he needed to escape a difficult upbringing.
And Steven’s love of stories eventually led him to a passion for storytelling. He got his start in journalism at Texas A&M University, reporting for the school’s newspaper. He soon discovered an infatuation with broadcast news, and he’s been following that path ever since.
Steven gave up his job as anchor for KTRK, the Disney-owned ABC station in Houston, in 2021 to move to NYC with his fiancé. He began freelancing at NBC News, MSNBC and NBC News NOW in October 2021 just after the move. He has filled in as anchor for Early Today, MSNBC Reports, Morning News NOW, Hallie Jackson NOW and more. In that time, he led breaking coverage of major stories, including the Uvalde, Texas school shooting, the first moments of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Highland Park, Illinois Independence Day mass shooting. In 2022, NBC made him a fulltime correspondent with the network.
